Pyplok® is a 360° radial swage mechanically attached fitting which connects pipe and tube without heat for a permanent leak-free connection. The system is fast, reliable, and tamper proof, making it ideal for use in new build and maintenance works where fire hazards exist and clean piping connections are non-negotiable. In these systems, a portable, hand-held installation tool creates the seal.
The Pyplok® process involves using a hand-held cold swaging tool to permanently compress fittings onto piping. This hydraulically powered tool swages the fitting over the pipe or tube, plastically deforming in seconds. The result is a permanent, leak-tight seal.
Pyplok® fittings possess a unique sealing capability. They employ four non-metallic o-rings which compress against the pipe surface, producing the signature leak-tight seal. Thanks to this o-ring configuration, Pyplok® fittings can be installed on pipe and tube within normal tolerances and surface conditions.
The next unique component, the Pyplok® connector, is a metal sleeve which slides over the pipe or tube. The outer diameter at each end of the connector is then swaged against the pipe or tube using a portable hydraulic tool. The tool transfers linear force to a 360° radial force, resulting in a permanent, leak-free connection. At each swaged end there is an internal helical ridge which, when swaged, penetrates the outer surface of the pipe or tube. Axial grooves separate the ridge into teeth which help the connection resist torsional loads.
The process creates two seals: an inner O-ring seal and an outer O-ring seal.
The inner main seal is the high-pressure seal. The O-ring groove which houses this main seal has an annular ridge directly beside the groove, providing additional support upon swaging and assuring a fluid-tight connection.
At the outer end of the fitting is the second O-ring groove, the outer environmental seal. This seal prevents fluids and contaminants from entering between the fitting and the tube, preventing internal corrosion.
This sealing technology is unique to Pyplok® mechanically attached fittings. They can be used in applications where hot work, or welding, is too expensive, too dangerous, or otherwise logistically impossible, such as in classified areas. Installing and inspecting of fittings is the most expensive part of joining and maintaining any piping system, and savings in this area can dramatically improve operations. Regardless of the type of piping system, there may be numerous threaded, welded and brazed fittings. These traditional types of fittings are more labour-intensive, resulting in higher costs.
The Pyplok® cold compression process eliminates the need for welding and die penetration inspection. Additionally, costly requirements like qualified welders, hot work permits, fire watch, flushing and purging, gas freeing, and radiography are no longer necessary.
The Pyplok® system assists teams with safe, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly piping installation and repair practices.
Pyplok® is a safe cold work technology. There are no torches, open flames, or sparks associated with installation or maintenance.
Pyplok® provides a range of fitting and hand-held tooling that doesn’t require extensive training or specialized skills to install.
Pyplok® fittings employ an easy-to-use inspection gauge, eliminating the need for conventional NDT requirements like X-rays.
Installing Pyplok fittings provides minimal disruption to production. Complete more tasks simultaneously, and reduce your downtime significantly.
Pyplok® has a successful history in the most demanding environments, where fire safety is essential and quick, easy solutions to maintenance repairs are difference-makers. The unique 360° radial swage design of the Pyplok® fitting leads to unmatched performance in high pressure, pulsation and vibration situations. Industries like marine & offshore, navy, oil & gas, petrochemical, and mining need reliable fittings across low to high pressure piping applications. Pyplok® fittings have been accepted by the steel industry as a clean, fast, non-welded method to join carbon steel and stainless-steel piping for hydraulic and other piping applications.
Pyplok® supplies all commonly used types of pipe fittings suitable for:
Pyplok® fittings come in all standard configurations (straights, 45° and 90° elbows, adapters, tees, reducers, and flanged ends) and are tested to handle pressures up to 10,000 PSI/ 690 bar.
