When installed properly and pressure tested successfully, Pyplok® fittings will never leak. If a leak is present during pressure testing use the inspection gauge to confirm the fitting has been swaged properly. The next step is to re-swage the fitting using the Pyplok® tool and re-test. If necessary, the Pyplok® fitting can be cut out and replaced.
Pyplok® fittings cannot be re-used once they have been installed. Pyplok® fittings are considered a permanent connection much like a welded joint but installed cold.
It is recommend that the fitting be cut out and replaced by following the proper Pyplok® installation procedures.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B31 pressure pipe codes are recognized and generally accepted as good engineering practice for piping design. Pyplok® fittings fall under ASME code section B31.3 - process piping and section B31.1 - power piping. Fittings that are manufactured in accordance with these specifications and standards may be used in piping systems. Fittings that are not listed in ASME code B31.3 and B31.1 are considered unlisted components and as such the pressure design of these components must meet the requirements set out in section 304.7.2 in B31.3 and 104.7.2 in B31.1.

Pyplok®'s elastomeric seals (O-Rings) are the limiting factor. Viton is the standard elastomeric seal compound with a maximum temperature of 400º F (205º C). For steam or hot water applications it is highly recommend to use an EPDM seal which has a maximum operating temperature of 400º F (205º C). Other seals are available upon request including cold temperature applications.
Pyplok® fittings cannot be installed on the radius of a bend. The fitting must be installed on the straight leg beyond the tangent point of the radius.
No you don't have to cut out and replace the fitting. Simply place the Pyplok® tool around the fitting and re-swage it. Check with the inspection gauge to ensure the proper swage diameter has been achieved. As a pre-engineered tool, you can swage the fitting hundreds of times and you will never damage the fitting. The Pyplok® tool will automatically stop at a pre-engineered diameter for each size.
Pyplok® fittings are a permanent tamper proof connection that cannot be removed once installed very similar to a welded joint. Pyplok® does have a variety of separable fittings with Male and Female nuts, SAE Flanged configurations, DIN and ANSI Flange bolted connections. It is up to the designer or installer to use the separable fittings as required
The Pyplok® tool is very versatile. The U-Shaped head assembly can be removed and slipped around the pipe and the power unit can be locked into position at any angle. The pipe spacing between any standard DIN block style pipe clamps provides adequate space for the tooling.
Yes, lacquer, paint and other coatings must be removed along the swage area of the pipe. Pyplok® fittings must be swaged on bare metal of the pipe or tube. For more details, please refer to the Pyplok® Installation Manual.

It is not necessary for the pipe ends to touch one another. It is highly critical to mark the insertion depth on the tube in order to verify the proper installation.
Pyplok® offers a range of installation tools to suit the customer's requirements depending on the sizes being installed.
Pyplok® fittings do not need to be x-rayed after installation. A visual inspection of the insertion marks must be done along with the use of the inspection gauge which must fit around the swaged fitting. For more details, please refer to the Pyplok® Installation Manual.
Final testing is up to the individual test requirements. ASME B31.1 and B31.3 standards are located in chapter VI. May include but not limited to hydrostatic test, visual test, and or a gas leak test. A hydrostatic test can be done with water, mineral oils or other specified fluids. In hydraulic oil systems it is not advisable to test with water. It is advisable to use the system hydraulic oil as the test medium and leave it in the system upon oil flushing & testing.
Pyplok® can be easy installed in hazardous areas by using an ATEX approved manual hydraulic pump or pneumatic hydraulic pump.
Never use a disc grinder or any other grinder to prepare the swage area on the pipe. The use of such grinders may leave flat spots on the pipe. A more acceptable solution is to use emery cloth or a flapper wheel type of tool. Never clean the pipe in a longitudinally motion as it will cause leak paths.
